Nowak The Viking!

Sorry I'm late guys. I'm doing 3 of these at a time to see if I can't get this off my mind for 3 weeks. I want to focus on Midget-Man and give it that final push to get done.

Next Week: Nowak the Viking RETURNS!

Meantime, Here is a redid version of his lil intro card.

I fixed up some line colors, changed the background and basically made it much much closer to the style i was shooting for. Still can't match Frank Franzetta but well. Few can! The mans a genius and only those bold can dare hold a candle to him. Sadly I cannot, so low, my candle stay. But I'd like to think I nailed the attitude.

Bad Taste Theater 5

Finished in under 4 hours, I wasnt really timing it. I just did it today. I bought some comic strip board and figured I'd experiment with it. Messing also with a new layout on this blogger. It looks kinda iffy now but I'm gonna booger with some CSS and see if I can't chissle it into submission being this is kinda my new URL.

Enjoy!

Bad Taste Theater 4

Thanks to Megan for providing inspiration.

No thanks to my cramping hand and lazy attitude. I could do one of these a day but honestly, between this and working on my comic, I'm getting burned out. I think I will finish Midget-Man and if I'm not spending so much time working on that I will continue making comics. I like the challenge of a deadline but I can't be productive on Midget-Man if im working non stop on these weekly funnies.

We'll be back dont worry.

BTT PRESENTS A NOWAK THE VIKING CARTOON!

I think I went just a little over 4 hours working on this one. I'm clocking it at 4 hours 10 minutes including scanning. Not including however the first panel, I spent a bit more time on him being he's gonna be in front of all the cartoons much like he is now.

Still, if Ctrl-Alt-Del can make a comic this well done and take 10 minutes more, I'd love to see them try.

THE CHALLENGE CONTINUES! Next week I swear I will make it under 4 hours.

Meantime: Nowak The Viking is a character for my Uncle. He's a big fan and I wanted to start a weekly strip and needed a character simple to draw and not just a typical proto sitcom family seen in most Sunday funnies. So I came up with a hyper violent viking warrior and soon the idea of putting him in an office. More hillarity to ensue.

Midget-Man: Appealing?

If you look at older drawings of Midget-Man he is chubby and looks alot like Mighty Mouse. I wanted to solve that problem and make the character more handsome and appealing so I went from this:

To this:

I've gotten mixed reviews. One lady in particular has vowed her hatred of the character if not returned back to his primal state. I'm also hearing that the older one looks like a nice guy push over and looks too much like myself.

Eitherway, I'm sticking with this design for this issue but I am willing to hear feedback besides being bickered at to change him back because I'm not.

The goal here isn't to be cartoony or realistic. My goal to make a character that is appealing that a girl could also find 'handsome' because to be a star, you must have appeal across gender lines.

Leave me comments.

Further words on Guitar Hero: Metallica

The primary difference between the Rock Band and GH 1 and 2 games were they were mostly engineered by musicians. Guitar Hero 3 and up were engineered by programmers. This results in something of a higher difficulty curve and somewhat unintuitive rhythm game.

I dunno, I've played a few songs and I don't get the same buzz for nailing something as I do on Rock Band. Rock Band rewards you for felling the sound, while Guitar Hero seems to reward you for whacking the note.

Initial impression, I've still having fun with the game.

I've been taking comic pages to work, and just drawing there. I doubt I will do that today being I doubt I will have time to. I should pack them up anyway.
